Luciano Gaspari’s Sassi are created from a halftone hand-blown body with applied thick, coloured bands. The challenge is to find the right balance between colour intensity and transparency, keeping the glass bands distinct, choosing colours that add three-dimensionality while blending with the base. The resulting effect combines great fluidity, texture and homogeneity. The first edition of these vases was presented at the 1962 Venice Biennale, with a second edition releases in 1981.
