Marciano vase

Mouth-blown and hand-shaped Murano glass vase.
∅12cm x H 37cm | ∅4.72in x H 14.57in

The shape, as directly drawn by Kengo Kuma on the bronzino in Salviati’s furnace, reinterprets the arch formed by the wings of the Lion of Saint Mark (or Marcian lion), the patron and symbol of the city of Venice, as depicted by Carpaccio in his 1516 oil painting housed in the Doge’s Palace.

Associated with the natural element of air, the vase conveys lightness and the vital breath imparted by master glassmakers, making the invisible visible.
